About the Author Tony Gordon is a freelance writer and poet. Raising the Standards, this young man is from Bainbridge, Georgia (Port City Stand Up) and writes about the joys and pains of life. His first book of poetry, titled Poetic Journey is a collection of poems that embark on some emotional experiences that a young man encounters. Tony is a graduate of Fort Valley State University and credits his love of words and writings to the first love of his life: his grandmother, Mamie Gordon. Tony currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

A wonderful collection of poems that anyone can relate to

This has been one of the best pieces of literature that I have read in a long time. The author sets up each chapter and does a great job of putting you in place where you can completely relate to the poems within the collection. One poem "The Day After" actually hit right home and I can relate to how life is about experiences, and when you reflect back on those experiences you tend to realize the true lesson of those experiences. I recommend this book 100% and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. The author puts you in a place as you read each poem and make your way through the chapters of the book to allow you to take the journey along with him and come away with your own interpretation and your own reflections of your personal journey of the topics discussed. I have found myself going back and reading the chapters that touch me most often to help me look back on my own life to which I believe we all need to do.
